I came into sales relatively late in life myself (age 32) and was guilty of the appalling snobbery that afflicts sales recruitment to this day. Too many people that would be perfect for sales regard it as ‘below them’. I know why you may think this but please allow me the chance to highlight just 9 reasons why you may want to re-consider.

There are jobs aplenty available right now. These are jobs with real prospects, opportunities to shine and chances to develop a professional, successful, enjoyable career.

  1. MERITOCRATIC

The best people get the best rewards, the best future prospects. If you’re great, it will be recognised. That’s meritocracy.

  1. VARIETY

You’re dealing with people, all sorts of them, every day, often with a wide range of products and services to offer. This makes every day different, unpredictable, exciting (and sometimes difficult!)

  1. LAUNCH PAD

It’s a great start to a career that can take you into many different fields. Many successful business careers start in sales, from entrepreneurs to CEOs and business leaders of every type. No wonder really because business is sales.

You need a lot of skills and habits along with a great attitude to perform consistently well in sales. People that can match all of these requirements are few and far between, with a good market rate.

Your earnings will be uncapped. You sell loads and you’ll make loads. If you’re good, nothing will hold you back and you’ll enjoy the fruits of your success.

Sales will never disappear as a trade. The means of accessing a market may change, messages are

already communicated in different ways. But sales still need to happen and people do that best.
